Rules & FAQs

Who Can Play?

Sixth graders through 8th graders in good standing with grades and citizenship can play! Teams are open to all Challenger Middle Schoolers and can be co-ed. No experience necessary!

That being said, Cheetah Cup is designed to help students experience the thrill of playing in a sport. If you are already on the Challenger volleyball team, while we welcome your registration we may need to place those not on the middle school teams first to promote a more fair experience.

The first folks to sign up will be accepted, with the maximum players capped at 64 total. So sign up today!

Do I Choose My Own Team?

You can...in fact your are encouraged to! Teams are built out of a max of 8 players per team, so you may choose up to 7 friends to play with you. Just make sure everyone registers online - otherwise we can't place them!

Don't have a full team? No problem. We can add individuals playing solo to teams with an open spot as well. One of the 8 teams will be reserved for all individual players.

What Are The Rules?

The rules of the game will follow the same rules as the 8th grade PE curriculum. Everyone plays, no one has a static position, and no aggressive plays are allowed (hammers, hard spikes etc.). In addition, players are expected to treat EVERYONE with respect. Bullying, taunting, or aggressive behavior will cause the student will be removed from the game.

There will be a total of 8 teams selected to play. The preliminary games will happen during school lunches the week of December 16th. Teams who win their games will move on, while teams who do not win the first time will have a chance in our Last Chance bracket to come back and take the gold!

Can I Participate Without Playing?

Of course! Every student at Challenger is encouraged to watch and cheer on their favorite teams during the lunch time games. And we absolutely hope to see both students and family members come out to rally at the championship games after school on January 10th.

Volleyball is a very involved sport outside the court as well. We need line judges, score keepers, and referees to help keep the games fair and flowing. If you are interested in volunteering, please check the appropriate boxes below!
